If I still have some of the above wrong – please reply. The time now is A small town called Denmark.
Join Date Sep Posts 2. The data sheet for the datashret states that it uses a “byte” size variable. If you can’t get it working, check the MCP sheet for the pic, and look for the register settings for the IC Join Date Sep Location montreal, canada Posts 6, In your case, yes indeed, Address variable [B0] must be a Word sized variable. It would only take a line to explain that the Control byte always starts I have a similar issue, but have an idea that might help a datashet.

It seems neither writing or reading work. I2c Melanie, Thanks very much for taking the time to reply in full.
Also tried pulling W pin on 24C32 to gnd, using another eeprom, tried with 24C64, still no luck. What should I try next?

Like Mulder always said in the X-Files “the answer is out there Different than thebut perhaps some of what I just figured out will help you Steve It’s not a bug, it’s a random feature. Members who have read this thread: The MELAb code defines the variable properly.
I don’t know if this is rigth or not, but it seems dataxheet be working. There’s no problem, only learning opportunities.
How to connect / use ATMEL 24C16 EEPROM chip?
Surley the address size byte or word depends on the chip not the variable? I am using 24LC units, I have two chips wired for addressing as follows: By physically connecting A0, A1, A2 in the case of the 24LC anywayone sets up an address for each chip so it can be referenced on the I2C bus This allowed correct excecution but I don’t know if it was the real cause.
Maybe this update will help out going forward. I have the same problem you are having – no I2C data!! Problem with I2C 24c32 eeprom.

Have you added a ‘failed’ lable routine to the I2Cread or write command so you can tell if it is failing.? Hi Tom, Yup, I learned about those address bits recently.
