I am so glad that there are quite a few more in the series as I have a feeling I am going to love the rest too, and I can’t wait to read them. But I kept dancing and didn’t.
Despite trying her best to conform to their cxvernario, that extra little bit of forebrain power sparks a rebellious nature in her which pretty much leads to every critical point in the novel. I really admire these epic books. While this may seems like a recipe for disaster, the author integrates it seamlessly. And the setting is so unique, the writing so vibrant, that I imagine most people libbro find themselves engaged. I joked with friends that I didn’t even want to live in right now. Again, this happens to Ayla quite a bit, in a rather uncomfortable rape montage nothing czvernario too graphic, however.
I loved how the Others could speak but the Clan could not; how the Clan could access memories but were bad at new innovations while the opposite was true of the Others. I get to the second to last page there are in this book, so I had been waiting for quite some time desperately anticipating the moment Broud realizes his love for Ayla they say hate is like love, don’t they?
I am now off to re-read the entire series! A natur This novel of awesome beauty and power is a moving saga about people, relationships, and the boundaries of love. Jones though maybe this is more interms of setting than prose and even Robin Hobb to some extent.
Fortunately, there were not TOO many of these scenes, but there were enough to be noteworthy. Her life with the Clan isn’t easy, their traditions are very different to those she was brought up with and she finds it hard to understand why she isn’t allowed to do the things she wants to do.

Given that the author was using words to express non verbal communication, I can’t hold it against her. I liked the differences that she accented between Clan and Others: The idea of gods and Totem animals as guiding factors for life certainly seem plausible as belief systems for societies like this one, and even the rituals and strange occurrences could relate to magic.
As ugly and strange to the clan as the girl seems, she b The story begins with an earthquake in the first few pages of the book that leaves a 5 year old girl alone, orphaned and wandering, on the brink of death. Yesterday was one of those moments where I finished a book and went ” Ayla is such a well-developed protagonist. I hope I get to read the rest of the series. Sure, they are wildly different from me in terms of customs, religion, ways of life, etc. She can not only recall what she has been taught, but devise new treatments and medicines that would never occur to Iza.

View all 6 comments. This is discussed on several occasions. Tons of information is imparted, and we are given a vivid look at what life would have looked like in Ayla’s time. Owo does not have the shared memories and the instinctual ways of the life as the Neanderthals.
I assumed Broud would be her love interest since he was a main character and guessed he and Ayla would have an enemies-to-lovers plot line or something.
I cavernaroo help but think of me and my sister when I read about the two. I had no trouble at all visualizing this book in my head as I read and found myself wanting to read it anytime that I couldn’t be.
