An introduction to linear algebra from the pure math perspective. Finite-Dimensional Vector Spaces. Paul R. Halmos The book ends with a few applications to analysis (Halmos’s true interest in the subject). Finite Dimensional Vector Spaces combines algebra and geometry to discuss the three-dimensional area where vectors can be plotted. The book broke ground.

User Review – Flag as inappropriate I’m going to have to agree with the other “outlier” review here. Eduardo Stabel rated it really liked it Feb 18, It is a graduate text, and the author is very rigorous in the threatment spacrs the subject.
The book brought him spacss fame as an expositor of mathematics. This book seems to provide lengthy explanations for simple ideas, and fails to point out concepts that could make interpreting the text far easier.

Foundations of Modern Analysis, Volume 1 J. Published August 20th by Springer first published This book is a thorough introduction to linear algebra, for the graduate or advanced undergraduate student.
Our title “Further Linear Algebra” suggests already that the reader will be familiar with the basics of this discipline. I own at least a dozen books on various aspects of linear algebra, ranging from community college level textbooks Anton to treatments targeting specific industries such as computer graphics. If you like, you can read the short review that I hxlmos written about the book from here. The book broke ground as the first formal introduction to linear algebra, a branch of modern mathematics that studies vectors and vector spaces.
The presentation is never awkward or dry, as it sometimes is in other “modern” textbooks; it is as unconventional as one has come to expect from the author. The book contains about well placed and instructive problems, which cover a considerable part of the subject.
